Time to Consider Wider Measures to Tackle Youth Homelessness in the UK
Time to Consider Wider Measures to Tackle Youth Homelessness in the UK
Introduction
More and more young people from different corners of the United Kingdom are becoming homeless every day. Young people are subjected to higher risks of homelessness than others. As the word explains itself, young homeless in UK don't carry out their activities at homes but while sofa surfing, sleeping on streets or in temporary accommodations. Intolerable housing conditions also force young people at times to leave their houses.
Problem Statement
Researchers believe that hundreds of thousands of young people every year become homeless in the UK. There are several reasons for migrating from home to streets that include deteriorating family matters, mental health issues, poor financial backgrounds or substance misuse. Besides, there are also issues of poverty, unaffordable housing and unemployment involved.
There could be several other reasons for being homeless as well but the impact is one and it is harsh on their young minds. They develop psychiatric problems, depression and anxiety while several of them even quit their education. However, the most concerning point is that when they face life on streets alone, they are more likely to become victims of different sort of violence and poor health, and other social problems as well.
Thesis Statement
Young people in UK need special care in order to address their needs and this is the right time to consider wider measures to tackle youth homelessness in the country.
Purpose of the study
The main reason to conduct this research is to find out ways to prevent rising homelessness of youth in the UK. Homelessness begins at home, so the study will be an attempt to understand and resolve issues surrounding family disputes and will prepare methods to fix broken relationship-ties at first place. Secondly, it will focus on the importance of formulating improved and additional support programmes for the welfare of homeless youth, through survival opportunities. In short it will focus on finding practical solutions to prevent homelessness of youth in the UK, and will elaborate the ways to preventing it.
Aims and Objectives
The study aims at probing into the reasons behind youth homelessness in UK and to:
Create public awareness about the issues of young homelessness in UK, which is rising and widening.
Look at the weaknesses in the UK family system as it is one the most important reasons why young people are forced to leave homes.
Offer reliable information about the number of homeless youth and the assistance they require.
Point out at the services that can be provided to them in order to make their present situation better.
Evaluate how homelessness amongst the youth can be prevented through concrete steps both at official and no-official level.
