We see them as a crowd, a collective entity; we call them the homeless, as if that characterizes who they are, but we neglect to add the unspoken word in that name: people. People who with communal disabilities or economic troubles generally will be forsaken by the society and become homelessness along the roads. "During the past year, over two million men, women, and young kids, or nearly one per hundred of the US population, were homeless." (Stevens, 2001) The growing homeless community is a component that displays people are pain unexpected economic problems and laboring in sustaining their life basis.

Typically, persons have the impressions that homeless persons are sloppy, slovenly, and irresponsible; although, the truth may be alarmed because there are many people who have jobs and non-habitual to pharmaceutical or alcoholics still stay homeless. "It is a tragic facet of our heritage that homeless persons, in supplement to pain from the hardship of their condition, are subjected to alienation and discrimination by mainstream society. It is even more tragic that alienation and discrimination often jump from incorrect myths and stereotypes which surround homelessness." (Stevens, 2001) Homelessness outcomes from a complex set of circumstances that need people to choose between nourishment, shelter, and other rudimentary needs. Once the alternatives are restricted which means persons can no longer get what they need often result in homelessness.

Homelessness and scarcity are inextricably linked. Poverty means you do not have sufficient cash to bye your absolutely vital or basic needs. Some people are homeless because of a need of affordable housing. Others because of earnings those are too low to pay for basic dwelling expenses. However, what all of this comes down to be poverty.
