Problem Statement

What is the effect of family verses work responsibilities of nurses, on their personal lives?

Research Hypothesis

H0: Family verses work responsibilities, adversely affect the personal lives of nurses.

H1: Family verses work responsibilities do not affect the personal lives of nurses.

Literature Review

Work-life conflict among nurses is a conflict in which family requirements and work, mismatch equally, so meeting requirements of work or family makes it difficult to meet the requirements of other (Kossek & Lambert, 2005). Work-life conflict has significant implications for nurses in terms of personal health (Crouch & Meurier, 2005), their ability to provide quality care and for the nursing profession itself. The purpose of evaluating nursing literature review is to identify sources that we can use to conduct nursing research. The literature review is a detailed description of the topic that provides a guideline of how the research to be conducted and identify the steps that need to be followed (Polit & Beck, 2008).

For the proper commencement of this research, it is necessary to evaluate properly executed studies, reported and related closely to the problem at hand. As in our case the work-life conflict and the quality of life experienced by nurses (King & Hinds, 2003), we will try to analyze what are the areas of nurses' personal life that affect their acceptable performance? (Korabik, Lero & Louise, 2003). Is there professional commitment based on the flexibility of their discreet affairs? (Steven & Poelmans, 2005). Following are the objectives of literature review:

To review the literature published, both in the United States and internationally, highlighting the issue of work-life balance among nurses (Melosh, 1982).
