Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of “Case Study of City Place” in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on “Case Study of City Place” and its relation with “Design and Development”. The research also analyzes many aspects of “Case Study of City Place” and tries to gauge its effect on “Design and Development”. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for “Case Study of City Place” and tries to describe the overall effect of “Case Study of City Place” on “Design and Development”.

West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach is one of the largest and most populous cities in Beach Palm country, Florida, United States. In 2010, the estimated population of the city was 99,919. It is one of the most important cities of US due to its geographical location and as a metropolitan city it comprises of various businesses which are a source of revenue generator for it.

City Place Design

City Place is one of the largest town centre project in West Palm Beach. City Place consists of 600,000 sq feet of retail business. It includes 10 restaurants, Pizza shop, and 20 screen theatre. There are many entertainment facilities for the people there including a cultural arts theatre, open air plaza along with 570 private residences. It is designed according to the recent technology and facilities for people. City Place development includes retailers which beling to local and regional specialty shops including 600 residential units.

The 77-acre City Place opened with great fanfare in October 2000. Large tenants like Restoration Hardware, Muvico Theatres, Barnes & Noble Booksellers and Macy. The center became an economic engine for the city, promoting a series of condominium developments and the construction of a modern office building. City Place also injected new life into a downtrodden section of West Palm Beach. City Place Retail is a subsidiary of New York Related Cos., which is led by Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross.

City Place is the popular retail destination in West Palm Beach. City Place had been sued by a foreclosure by lender. The demand for a freeze on lease negotiations, delayed the ability of the franchisee to open, despite having spent $ 37,500 in license fees. Uncertainty is not good for City Place tenants or companies wishing to have space in the centre.“It is important to take a commercial property with a large number of tenants and a large shadow of doubt. Nobody knows what it means," Manero said of foreclosure. "Could be better or it could be worse or may be the same. This is an unknown."

The exclusion also has led business leaders to face the fact that one of the urban reconstruction projects more ambitious in Florida, led by one of the country's leading businessmen, could not overcome the effects of the recession.
