Research Proposal

Introduction

“Voice over IP” is the same as “Voice over Internet Protocol” (“Internet Protocol”) and is widely known as VoIP. VoIP refers to the diffusion of voice traffic over the Internet network (Yoon et.al, 2013 pp. 2149). The Internet Protocol (IP) was originally designed as a network to transmit data, and due to its great success was adapted as a voice network. About transmission of voice over IP (VoIP) and can provide many services normally processes are very difficult and expensive to implement using traditional PSTN voice network. Thus, the transmitting of voice over IP makes easier the process of increasing telephone lines when new employees to the company. Features that are normally charged at extra charge phone companies such as the identification of the person calling, call forwarding and automatic redial, are easy to implement with VoIP technology - at no cost. The unified communications are possible with VoIP technology because it allows the integration of other services available on the Internet network such as video, instant messaging, etc.

Title

The title of this project is to VoIP based communication system for Inter office connectivity.

Aims

The aim of this project is to make a LAN and WAN based VoIP network capable of linking the different offices of the organization whose central office is located in London. In this paper the techniques used in VoIP will be analyzed and discussed in details in order to make an efficient system for the VoIP communication.

Literature Review

The advantage of voice over IP is its portability. You can make and receive telephone calls over IP wherever there is a fast Internet connection, simply entering your account (McNamara, 2013). This makes VoIP voice over IP as convenient as e-mail. Traveling, you can simply take a microphone with headphones, or a special phone for IP telephony and then you can talk with your family and friends. The type of connection via Internet “phone-phone” can also be portable. Phones for voice over IP are small and light enough to take anywhere (Beyersdorf et.al, 2013). When you sign up with a provider of IP telephony, is assigning a unique number to the phone or the Internet adapter used by this service. This 'phone number' remains valid, even if your voice service over IP is, for example, in Los Angeles and you connected to the Internet in London.
