Implementation of VOIP in Organization for Solving the Issue of Mobile Telephony in Metropolitan Cities
Introduction to the Research
Speedy growth of internet revolution has forced the adoption of different applications that operate through it (Andrea et al., 2007). In recent times, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology has proved to be one of the best replacements for the traditional method of Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). The potential benefit that VoIP can provide is the provision of versatility, flexibility, cost effectiveness in speech communication (Rubin et al., 2010). VoIP can prove to be one of the most important technological adaptations in organizations of business world where tens of thousands of phone calls are made daily. The adaptation can result in the saving of enormous monetary value (Vatn, 2003). This internet telephony has the potential of replacing the phony systems of the world completely.
Aims and Objectives
Following are the aims and objectives for this study:
To evaluate the implementation of VOIP in an organization for solving the issue of mobile telephony in metropolitan cities
To determine the significant edge for adopting mobile VOIP in an organization as compared to the traditional switched telephone network
To figure out major technical challenges in the implementation of VOIP in an organization
To provide solutions for implications and challenges in the adoption of VOIP for solving the issue of mobile telephony
Research Questions
Following are the aims and objectives for this study:
RQ1: Can the issue of mobile telephony be solved with the implementation of VOIP in an organization particularly in metropolitan cities?
RQ2: What is the significant edge for adopting mobile VOIP in an organization as compared to the traditional switched telephone network?
RQ3: What are the major technical challenges in the implementation of VOIP in an organization?
RQ4: What solutions can be provided for present implications and challenges in the adoption of VOIP for solving the issue of mobile telephony?
Positioning of the Research
Though, VoIP has the ability to prove highly beneficial in organizations for solving the issue of mobile telephony, there is a slow adoption of this technology at organizational level. This shows that concerns remain with the use of VoIP that prevents its adaptation. The technical issues that are linked with VoIP include; quality of sound (QoS), reliability (capacity of the network) and security. In organizations, often the transmitted data is of confidential level, so security is considered as an important element. While obtaining the research, the question surrounds that how these factors could be overcome considering a large amount of clients for this particular technology in an organization (Andrea, 2007).
Literature Review
To understand the basis of a research, literature review is an important section that familiarizes the research initiator as well as the reader with the past work that has been done in the subject of study (Vatn, 2003). VoIP is a form of internet telephony that is based on packet ...
