Introduction

One of the great defining moments in the history of the U.S. Marine Corps was their participation in World War I. There are many historians who recounted this experience in great detail, which helped in capturing the spirit which earned the WW1 Marines the sobriquet "Devil dogs, which also provided an opportunity for important combat study of the conflict. Overview of the US Marine Corps

When a state of war took place on April 6, 1917, the United States Marine Corps had a total of 462 commissioned officers, 49 warrant officers, and 13,214 enlisted men that were vigorous during their operation and the aggregate number reached to 13,725. I t was witnessed that Corps reached their actual strength, which also had the total strength of 75,101 officers and enlisted men, the elevated standards were not comprised at all. As the overall statistics go through the comparison of estimated force of 3,100 in the last days of Civil War and of 4,800 during the end of Spanish War, the growth of the Marine Corps are usually mentioned in such case. It is a well recognized fact that during the outbreak of war, there were around 187 officers and 4,546 enlisted who served during the duty that had reached their continental limits of the United States. The military force consisted of 49 officers, and 2,187 enlisted men who became a part of the overall shipping capacity of the Navy. This regiment then formed the cooperation with Sixth Regiment and the Sixth Machine Gun Battalion of Marines, and the Fourth Brigade of Marines was communicated to organize them and become a part of Infantry brigades of the Second Division of Regulars that participated in major clash that did not have less than eight different actions in France.
