Introduction

The urban land issues in the developing economies affecting the people in large number as the rapid urbanization cannot be handled by their governments efficiently. These problems in turn are affecting the community rights. The people in urban areas cannot avail the benefits of basic necessities of life. Due to the over population in urban areas, the situation in developing and transitional economies is alarming and needs serious attention of the higher authorities. A recent lesson of the International Institute of Development Environment (IIED) in association with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) warned that tens of billions of people in emerging economies like Kenya still the biggest blow. Most of the people in such economies are living below the average line of poverty. The majority of the people in such countries are living in deprived lodging and environment associated ailments such as cholera and other disease. The head of the country do not have immediate plans to cope with urbanization.

Discussion

The urban land is the land bounded by the administrative boundary of the other municipalities. Urban land is used and intended for the building. The structure of urban land also includes the urban forests, land water bodies and other areas. Urban areas can be either in private or public property, i.e., in federal ownership, the ownership of urban as well rural land is of the government. If the land is owned by the government authorities or the subject of the government authorities, the disposal of such land plots will carry the state authorities. Many Kenyans are affected by these troubles whether rich or poor. However, some of the people living in urban areas are quite rich which is why they are able to get all the facilities of urban areas. The discrimination among the people in urban areas is widespread and almost the whole population is getting affected by that.

Moreover, there are other issues as well that are related to the urbanization. Among it, one of the most known case is that of October 2008. One of the country's supermarkets on Thika Road was fired during the night. All products in the supermarket worth millions of dollars were destroyed. However this is not the only incident (Davies, 2005, 17).

Events similar to this have been going on for years. A lot of houses including gasoline pumps, superstore, suburban residence, little and casual lodging, all held in the forename of growing the town. Due to urbanization, there are issues regarding infrastructure as well. There is a need to extend the road from Nairobi, especially around the city, that is resulting in massive congestion during the hours of never-ending chase. The urban planners turn on their maps and plans to remove the old road.
