Porter's generic strategy model includes diverse procedures that go out from comprehension the streamlined structure and the transformation inside the industry. As per this model, it is essential for the organization to examine the business sector demands and the rival with a specific end goal to maintain and hold it's focused playing point. Porter's model of competitive advantage has three nonexclusive procedures, the cost leadership, differentiation and the focus strategy (Kossowski, 2007). Notwithstanding, this paper will distinguish and assess the generic strategy model dependent upon three retail firms from the view of the Vice President of an alternate firm who is set to propose the viable non specific method for his own particular organization dependent upon the contender investigation.

Discussion

Three retail firms which will be highlighted in this paper are Apple, Microsoft and Wal-mart.

Wal-Mart

Wal-mart was established with the aim of becoming the top retailer of the world, and it has been successful in achieving it goal. According to different researches and studies, Wal-mart is able to save a minimum of 15% on each shopping carts of customers. Wal-mart has planned to exhaust and move over their ordinary low evaluating methodology universally to battle the differentiation in the costs. Wal-mat has a great characterized structure that helps them realize their point (Mascarenhas, 2011).

Microsoft

The IT sector is dominated by the Microsoft, with its roots incorporated around the globe. Since, its establishment they have been serving their customers as a market leader adopting the resolute attitude towards their customers.
