This paper intends to expound the prevailing situation of the police in United States and the extent of police corruption, misconduct, and brutality in US. The study will also present two current cases over the police corruption, misconduct, and brutality. However, the police corruption and misconduct are the international problem. The police corruption can be defined as the kind of misconduct in which officers seek for personal gains through the use of their authority and position. This may include soliciting or accepting the bribes against the illegal activities. However, it also includes using the falsified evidence while deliberately participating in organized crimes. The police misconduct is the inappropriate actions performed by the law enforcement officers pertinent to their official duties. It leads towards the miscarriage of justice which includes the injustice acts of false arrest, falsified evidence, and false imprisonment (Westmarland, 2005). In addition to it, the police brutality is the unfair and excessive use of physical force and psychological intimidation by the law enforcement officer where police is deliberately engaged in violation such as beating the civilian. Moreover, it also includes unlawful killing of another human being unintentionally or the voluntarily.

The corruption has the deep root in the history of police in United States however the police misconduct and police brutality have also become a common practice. In some cases, the law enforcement officers are involved in the minor misconducts which go unnoticed however, in some cases, the major misconducts of the police officers lead towards the significant crimes. There are numerous cases which indicate the police corruption and brutality as these practices are now quite common in every police department at some level.
