Every human being lives and environments.

These situations are interpreted through thoughts or mental images (internal dialogue).

These thoughts, beliefs and mental representations depend on mood and behavior of the individual.

The cognitive and behavioral therapies are studying this system, highlighting the faults or distortions in cognitive (thoughts).

The cognitive approach aims to restructure these patterns.

The different types of cognitive distortions, dysfunctional thoughts are identified, defined and explained in order to then challenge them, modify them or remove them and allow new more adaptive behaviors.

When we speak of the cognitive approach, we refer to the way we process information.

Specifically it is the choices we make information and its interpretation.

Both operations depend in large part of our cognitive schema that is to say, how we select certain aspects of information based on our experiences.

These experiences will create ways to interpret information and ways these can sometimes be wrong.

These are governed by our cognitive processes are logical rules (in principle) processing of information to allow us to adapt to environmental demands.

But it may happen that these rules are made from irrational beliefs or illusions.

We may all at some point in our lives either succumbing to irrational ideas, but where these irrational ideas take the form of a cognitive schema, we are likely to find ourselves in a state of psychic disorder.

This disorder is caused by information that conflicts with the intentions and appropriate response that prevents dune.

So people who maintain the illusion of perfection will have great difficulty completing a task because it will always find something that is lacking when it is undertaken and in some cases can avoid involvement in projects for fear of can not achieve perfection.
