Introduction

Latin American Culture is referred to the informal or formal expression of the Latin American people. The Latin American culture is also known as the Latino culture. The Latin American culture is also very rich in music, arts food and literature. This is a very important and valuable novel written by Cristina Garcia, and was also nominated for the National Award. The author presented this story among three generations. The story cover the areas of Cuba to America because the families and characters demonstrated in this novel are discussed belonged to these regions. One of the significant themes that are demonstrated in this novel is the Cuban culture and history. Most of the historical events of Cuba are also demonstrated in this novel that gives a good idea about the Latin American culture.

Apart from the Cuban history and culture, the main themes that have been presented in this novel include family relationships, exile and the divisiveness of politics.
