Some American authors boast that their country has never suffered an attack abroad since independence and that has never been invaded by a hostile force, what these historians ignore or overlook, deliberately or not, is the war of 1812 that faced the newly formed United States and Britain almighty again after the independence of the colonies (Hickey, 2012).
