The co-pilot intelligent collision avoidance system

Introduction

Mechanical engineering is a branch of engineering that applies the exact sciences, specifically the physical principles of thermodynamics, mechanics, materials science, fluid mechanics and structural analysis for the design and analysis of various elements used today, such as machinery for various purposes such as; thermal, hydraulic, transportation, as well as ventilation systems, vehicles driven on land, air and sea, among other applications. The machine is subject to constant change, which is based primarily on the great advances in the field of electronics, computer science and material sciences, all of these has added to the profound changes that have occurred in the methodology of planning, design and production. As the development in Mechanical Engineering Industry is growing rapidly and has become more adoptive to automation, it has also led to the development of the co-pilot intelligent collision avoidance system in new cars for the safety of the drivers. This is a new system developed by MIT, USA, that is based on a laser range finder and a camera, which can detect obstacles. If the car is in a safe area, i:e, no holes and no other car too close to the vehicle, the driver can make their own decisions, and if the system detects danger, it immediately takes control and keeps the vehicle in the security zone.

Discussion

This new technology is developed by the ITM to assist in the conduct of the driver; it is a smart co-pilot that gets activated upon detection of a dangerous situation or clear case of accident. Operation of this device is based on the storage of information from a front camera and a laser ranging system that continually receive and store information from the road where the vehicle will circulate a few seconds later.
