Texting While Driving

Introduction

Mobile phones were created few decades back for the communication convenience of the people. From the day of its creation, it made many people's life easy and comfortable. One can connect to anybody, at anytime and anywhere in the world in just few seconds. It has a lot of advantages and features that make it a luxury for some people. However, when it comes to the road safety, the cell phone is measured as a danger more than ever when Short Message Service (SMS) was introduced. SMS has advantages as well, but it has been proved very harmful to the people either walking or driving on the road. Texting while driving leads to increased distraction behind the wheel and this distraction has become the cause of many motor vehicle accidents The entire study in this paper will discuss the dangers of texting while driving and what people have to go through just by being bit careless on the road because of their texting and finally a list of recommendations is presented to overcome this problem. This paper is also accompanied with few incidents that happened with people who were involved in texting while driving.

Discussion

From the time when short messages were introduced, the world has developed conscious of the hazards of texting while driving. Texting, which is also known as short messaging service (SMS) has a perimeter of 160 typeset for each message and are in written format and can be send from one phone to another phone. The service is so suitable that a number of people started composing messages yet while driving or walking on the road. Driving is an action that needs complete attentiveness and eyes on the road. If the driver averts his or her eyes even for a second, then that might cause him or her serious trouble. While being on the road, putting your eyes off the road even for a second can be a reason for somebody's death.

To support the study (Ship, Pp: 1), consider a tragic incident that took place regarding the texting while driving. The incident was as follows: three young ladies were travelling in a car on one fine morning. All of them were wearing a seat belt and were totally sober. The female, who was driving, during her conversation with the other two women, chooses to take in another pal in the discussion and throws him a text message from her cell phone while driving. Unexpectedly the car changes direction towards the other line of the traffic which was the oncoming traffic and the car hits in the other car that was coming from the opposite direction and a complete crash erupts. Bodies were unnerved; glass smashes, blood splashes and then the car at last stopped. Only the driver is conscious, but after seeing her rest of her friends being dead on the spot busted into tears and start screaming out of shock, because their condition was not worth looking at.
