Reasons for devising the Teaching Plan

The teaching plan was devised to facilitate the provision of health teachings to the family among Africans Americans, to have a basis for the health teachings to be given to the Africans Americans family, to improve the health of the family through holistic care given based on the teaching plan and to prevent illness among Africans Americans family members by giving health teachings based on the teaching plan.

General Objectives

Within 30 minutes of discussion, the Africans Americans family must be able to grasp the concept of Diabetes Mellitus, verbalize their concerns about the disease, clarify and questions they may have about the disease and improve their management of the disease after said activity.

Within 30 minutes of discussion, the teacher:

Will be able to establish rapport with the family to facilitate a better working relationship.

Will be able to discuss the definition of Diabetes Mellitus, its sign and symptoms in general.

Will be able to discuss the possible complications and risk factors of Diabetes Mellitus.

Will be able to demonstrate how to perform the Benedict's Test and discuss how to interpret it's results.

Will be able to discuss the ways of managing and preventing the disease, stressing on Diabetic Foot Care.

Will be able to discuss about Alternative Medicines that can be used for Diabetes Mellitus such as Ampalaya and Banaba.

Will be able to evaluate what the family has learned through an open forum and questioning.

Will be able to properly thank the family for spending their time for the activity.

Will be able to bid the family farewell to strengthen established rapport.
