2.1 Describe how a teaching assistant can communicate and develop positive relationships with children and young people

Language is the bridge which creates easy communication between individuals. If the teacher and student do not understand each other language then, the learning process can be very slow. The teachers face difficulties in explaining the concepts and the students face difficulties in understanding. The language barrier can cause the learning process to slow down or even halt for the minority students. It is vital for the teaching assistant to develop a positive relation with the children and young people. The teaching assistants have the responsibility to assist the teachers in giving the students with extra attention and supervision. They are the ones who have to deal more with the students as compared to the teachers (Barnlund, 2008, pp. 123). The teaching assistant need to design different strategies for students to learn and understand what is being taught easily. They can use play cards or, common scientific, terms to communicate the concepts to the students. They should get to know all the students of their class well and develop a friendly term with them. They must avoid being strict with the children and young people. The children and young people always look up towards the teacher who is friendly and corporative. The teaching assistant ought to keep a check on the progress and behavior of the children and the young individuals and must come up with ways to effectively deal with them.

2.2 Describe how a teaching assistant can communicate and develop positive relationships with adults

It is vital for the teaching assistants to develop a positive relationship with the parents. The parents ought to be involved in the development process of their children. Parents can play a great part in building up the confidence in their children. The teaching assistant ought to hold regular meetings with the parents and provide them pointers in how to effectively deal with their children. The parents should not point them out with in a group or in front of any outsider but should appreciate the things they do and try to build the normal behaviour in them. Intervention includes nutritional, educational, behavioural, and pharmacological approaches (Cummins, 2009, pp. 67). These approaches seek to restructure the child's inappropriate behaviour in order to help in order to cope with his/her abilities as per the environment's requirement. There are sessions conducted by highly trained teachers to develop the targeted behaviours. The teaching assistant can work positively with the parents so that the development of the children is more effective and successful. Apart from conducting regular meetings with the parents, the teaching assistants must also send regular assessment reports to the parents so that they remain up to date about the progress of the students. These assessment reports should not only be academic but also behavioural as well.
