Discussion

A manager is the person who is responsible for directing the work of others. The success of the manager in achieving the objectives and carrying out tasks and duties optimally depend on the manager's ability to lead and guide subordinates. The manager's leadership abilities need to influence the behavior of the subordinates and the behavior must convince them to cooperate with the manager through proper implementation of issued orders and instructions regarding work processes and workplace ethics (Grossman & Parkinson, 2002). This means that for the manager to succeed in achieving set goals and tasks, they must have the skills to lead. The variety of knowledge and the quality of exercising different roles distinguish the manager from the other individuals involved in the organizational processes as managers must make sure that they successfully carry out the operations within their department (Grossman & Parkinson, 2002).
