Successful Implementation of Electronic Health Information Technology

Introduction

Health information system is the mechanism or process which we can use to gather data that can be used in the perfection of the healthcare system (Lippeveld, et al 2000). HIS is mainly used to identify the level of supply and demand in any country. HIS proved to be an effective way to tackle all the difficulties that faced by different healthcare departments. There is a need of selection of an appropriate program to be installed at a particular department so that cost can also be managed efficiently. SDLC can help in the selection of a suitable HIS. SDLC is a process that is composed of several steps like launching, examination, aims, and performance as well preservation and discarding are also involved. A security System along with SDLC is also mandatory for the protection (Radack S. 2009).

Discussion

SDLC consists of the following steps: Initialization it includes the identification of the requirements of a system and proper documentation is done on the basis of need. Development A system is then outlined, planned, purchased and in this step. Execution The designed system is judged and launched. Preservation The program starts operating according to its demands. Discarding The system is discarded when a new system is developed. (Radack S. 2009). The steps which an organization should follow in implementation of an electronic health information technology in accordance with the system development life cycle are as follows:

Preparation

It is the most important phase because it gives the proper track to any system that is going to be implemented. It is obligatory to identify the aims and purposes of any project. The patient should be considered as the recipient of HIT and all the aims should be made according to it. ...
