Stress Management

Concrete Experience

Stress is not a disorder discovered recently. Indeed, through the neurological and endocrine responses, the response stress is crucial in immune mechanisms in disease resistance, in the phenomena of autoimmunity and allergy, premature aging, in intellectual capacity as well as in postural structure of the individual. My childhood was full of trouble. My mother was a drug abuser. She often snuffed cocaine and used other drugs. The mother of my cousin that I visited often also used drugs. Imagine the stress level that I had to face that at such tender age; an age in which it is difficult to grasp these things that easily. The father of my first child also started using marijuana, which further created troubles not only for me, but for my child as well. I was under immense pressure and stress.

I did not wanted my children to live the life that I have lived. I wanted to give my children the love and time that they always have wanted from their parents. My second husband also was addicted to drugs, and I helped him in recovering through this phase. From all this it is evident that such and such are the implications of stress not to allow the operation of a complete list of diseases in which stress plays a crucial role. Stress (stress) is a phenomenon that occurs when the demands of life are perceived too difficult. The problems that I faced through this period were:

Elevated blood pressure (hypertension)

Gastritis and ulcers in the stomach and intestine

Decreased renal function

Sleep Problems

Exhaustion

Appetite disorders

I didn't used to sleep for days. My diet was very low, and I would hardly have any proper meal during the day. I felt so much exhausted; I remembering fainting at the local store. I used to go to attend family sessions and substance abuse classes with my husband, as I had a strong will to learn more about it and to effectively help the patient in this period.

Feelings and Thoughts

I had limited support from my family. At times, I really felt that I was alone and fighting for survival against the world. Sometimes I felt devastated and wanted to misery to end. I cried throughout the whole nights, asking God to help me out. But what kept me alive were my children. I never wanted my children to face what I have faced and lived with throughout my life. I wanted to give them a safe and healthy environment to grow and learn. I needed to keep a check on my stress and anxiety level and the triggers that caused it.

The stress is an insidious enemy, cunning, opportunistic, and in this crazy life in which we are engaged, when our ability to response fails to counteract the weight of what we interpret as threats, their presence becomes a tremendous obstacle against the quality of life, undermining the full extent our ability to achieve a full and harmonious, producing dire consequences such as illness, both physical and ...
