Introduction

The hospitality, sports and tourism sector covers a broad area in UK which involves the managements of hotels, restaurants, cafes, sport clubs, bars and various other roles in travel and tourism industry. The hospitality industry is basically the name given to a wide range of fields within the service industry including cruise lines, restaurants, theme parks, lodging, event planning, cruise line, as well as various fields within the tourism industry. The hospitality industry is a several billion dollar industry which is formed on the basis of the availability of leisure time and disposable income. A hospitality unit such as restaurant, hotel, entertainment, park is further divided into several groups like direct operations (bartenders, kitchen workers, housekeepers, front office, etc.), facility maintenance, marketing, human resources, management and club in order to facilitate public. For hospitality industry, usability rate is considered as an important variable (Lashley, 2000).

In UK, the hospitality industry is a varied and broad industry that ranges from single-person organization to international corporations. There are more than eighty jobs for people in this industry. There are seven sub-industries with which the hospitality industry is defined including food service providers, hotels food service membership clubs, restaurants, gambling, pubs, night clubs, bars and hospitality services. This industry is not only based on restaurants and hotels but there are twelve other sectors in which this industry is divided (Zapalska, et al. 2002).

In response to the technological and industry changes, the hospitality industry and its changes are not evolving. The employees must be competent and they must be encouraged to enhance their creative, originality and problem-solving skills. It is better that professional body in a hospitality industry addresses these issues. In the hotel classification research, every individual must participate in order to create hotel standards that are understandable by all stakeholders and employees. A forum should be created by the body where employers and managers can easily expose their potential and contemporary managerial competences. It is important to develop a closer collaboration or link among the hospitality industry and the training providers so that the employees can exit colleges by understanding industry expectation and vice versa. This will play significant role in enhancing the quality of service (Lashley, 2000, pp.3-15).
