Introduction

Many studies have been undertaken to examine the effects of different types of music on plant growth. Studies have been carried out by students for science fairs, but scientists have conducted similar studies. Most studies conclude that playing certain types of music or sounds to stimulate plants to grow faster, while other types of music actually hinder and delay the growth process.

It seemed incredible that music stimulates the growth of plants, but for testing, Josh conducted a study. Based on the observations, he has taken heights of plants before and after music. This study is based on the following question.

Will plants exposed to music grow faster than those not exposed to music?

Dependent variable and independent variables are terms of the empirical sciences. A dependent variable in a problem, is a parameter which varies under the influence of other parameters of the problem (which themselves may vary, and are either other dependent variables, or the independent variables).
