Statement of Purpose

My personal life and professional career has undergone drastic transformations during the last couple of years. After graduating from University of Virginia in Bachelor of Arts, I have been driven by my interest in economics and sociology. This arena of focus has provided me the steady career enhancement. My profound interest in policy and international economics started while I was in Korea. As a daughter of a business man, I have been susceptible to all the economic trends. This inclined me to start layering on my knowledge and acquaintance of economics into my work. The core goal of my graduate studies and professional career is do research on policy economics at international level through my top-notch personal and professional expertise.

I have the honor to intern for congressman, Bong Ju Jung, as an assistant to the secretary of congressman. I have participated in the education financing project, HECS- HELP. It is an Australian Government loan program to assist eligible student in financing college studies. The purpose of researching HECS- HELP is to search for possible implementation of similar system in Korea in order to reduce gap between public and private education as well as provide students in need in response to rising college tuition. This experience stimulated a strong sense of confidence and I learnt gigantic range of things. I was responsible to compare the financial aid structure of Korea in comparison with other countries. I collected the data from phone interviews, secondary research, and online research. During my tenure there as an intern, I had developed a very strong belief that professional economic consideration is immensely important in the framework of policy making.
