Introduction

It is the general trend that can be observed in any phenomenon that is the part of this world that it would burgeon and grow with the passage of time. As technological advancements are taking place this gives a rapid rise to the evolution. We see changes and evolution in different field. Similarly, field of law also has faced many changes. One of the evolutions that have occurred in this field is of specialization. This paper would be discussing about the specialization in the field of criminal law.

Specialization in criminal justice

Criminal law is a wild field. It involves many facets and sub-divisions. Previously, what used to happen is that an attorney used to handle cases of all the sub-divisions of criminal law. (Kahn & Kahn, 2007)

Now an attorney specialized in a particular field of criminal law and handles the case of only specialized field.

Origin of specialization in criminal justice

Several different reasons give rise to the development of any phenomenon. So, behind the evolution of specialization of criminal law also are certain reasons because of which this thing happened. In the mid of twentieth century this fashion of specialization came into the existence in the field of criminal justice.

The very first reason behind that is complexity and diversity of American life. United States of America is a place where people of different class, race, religion from all over the globe live and this give rise to the diversity in American culture. Due to this diversity, nature and types of crimes also got diversified so, in order to deal with this in an efficient and effective way American Bar Council ABA urged attorneys to get certified for specialized fields.
