Assignment 5 - Luke

Behavioral, emotional and social difficulties (BESD) are a term which defines very complex and multifaceted difficulties faced by unlimited children. It is estimated that around 150,000 children suffer from BESD in different schools, special and mainstream both. The reason of these difficulties ranges from minor social problems to serious personality or psychological issues. In some children, they may arise from the factors other than school such as negligence from parents, mental or health illness, sensory problems, abuse of any time or psychological traumas (Coster et al., 1999).

Sometimes children face problems in having friends initially and to make a place in a new environment. The distraction which they face can make a negative impact on their personalities which results in BESD. The need of speech, language and communication is vital and the absence may cause different problems. The needs of children may vary and this may start from primary to secondary need. The children having behavioural, social and emotional difficulties faces speech and communication problem directly as they are afraid to speak in public and feels awkward to communicate in front of people.

The emotional problem goes the same as they hide their emotions and remain silence. This can happen vice versa as well. That is when a child is facing difficulty in speaking his language; he or she may hesitate to speak in front of people which are the starting of their social, emotional and behavioral difficulties (Coster et al., 1999). That is why the development of listening & speaking skills requires full attention to make sure that the children acquire good store of words and learn how to listen and respond in a proper way. To learn the way to speak confidently and clearly is also important. These are the basic communication skills, which are greatly significant to learn and to make a child intellectual and social. These skills also lead to the emotional development of children.
