Discuss feminists' use of Foucault's theories to condemn diet and beauty regimes as symbolic of female submission. Why have other feminists been reluctant to do so? How do liberal, socialist, and radical feminists differ in terms of their strategies for achieving gender equality?

The concept of female submission pertains to the association and relationship wherein a female is submissive to the male dominance most of the times. This submission may be consensual or voluntary to it might be gained through the acts of duress. It is the man who usually acts as the dominating partner and in many cases it may it may be other people. The term "female submission" generally refers to such a woman who gets sexual pleasure by performing such acts that submit her to men and this pleasure is likely to arise incidentally, passively in the form of a side-effect of the approach of submitting to a male. In all these times, the beauty regimen and diet have stayed to be the symbolic of female submission as mentioned and condemned by Foucault (Zerilli, Linda, 2005).

The many feminist theorists, in particular, tend to make the cautious action against the labeling of women who seek to accept the beauty regimes in the form of cultural dopes and subscribe to them in an unconscious manner making it is a trend which keeps them subordinate to men. It has been maintained by Michel Foucault that the central and primary location for the reproduction and expression of the power relationships is the body. He argues that with the help of everyday disciplinary practices and self-surveillance, the individuals are able to reproduce and internalize the power and social status hierarchy, by the transformation of their bodies into representatives or “carriers” of relations of subordination and domination.

It has been argued by Foucault that the concept of power has to be understood and translated practically in the initial attempt in the form of diversity of force relations that are immanent in the sphere. Foucault has no belief in the domination system that one group exerts over the other group. There can be serious doubts and issues with respect to the 'repressive

Hypothesis' for one individual to opt to interpret and understand or appear in the form of a new episode by either a more discrete and devious form of power or by lessening of prohibition. By talking of the relationship between the body and power, it is suggested by Foucault that it is an advanced concept of depicting the sexuality that may be useful to support the element of feminism. Therefore, it is evident that through the beauty regimen and diet, the organization of sexuality tends to produce various signals of challenge, oppression, and of contestation. According to this recognition, the work undertaken by Foucault provides a consistent struggle in order to define sexuality which is an absolutely significant point.

The other feminists achieve the gender equality in different terms and strategies. The liberal feminists tend to stress upon the classical liberal philosophy regarding the rights of individual ...
