The emergence of social science is linked to the establishment of a network of technologies, knowledge, practices and discourses to regulate and govern society developing ways to control where the social sciences play a central role. The current knowledge society manages the production of scientific knowledge that maximizes the contributions consistent with the hegemonic thinking and discourages the development of critical perspectives. The social sciences are in the paradox of questioning the fundamentals of what they, in one way or another, actively constitute. The development of post-Fordist society and our location in the belly of the monster raises the need for reflection on the context, the possibilities and forms of critical work in this institutional framework.
In this paper we will be critiquing several articles that have lightened the causes and treatments for smoking addiction, researchers know little about tobacco dependence. One thing is certain: nicotine is involved in this mechanism. Increasing numbers of young people smoke regularly. And a large percentage of them addicted to the habit of the degree in which they find great difficulty in getting rid of them. This is in spite of serious attempts in this regard. All smokers and without exception, are fully aware of the harm caused by smoking, health, economic, psychological and social.
Discussion
The first article we are analyzing in this paper is “Adherence to and Reasons for Premature Discontinuation From Stop-Smoking Medications: Data From the ITC Four-Country Survey”, written by James Balmford. The authors in this article have discussed different Nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs) that have been established to be useful in many experiments but at the same time they seem to have lower efficacy when purchased over-the-counter (OTC). The article covers possible explanation for the premature discontinuation and insufficient dosing. This article aims examine the occurrence of and reasons for premature discontinuation of stop-smoking medications (including prescription only) and how these differ by type, duration of use, and source (prescription or OTC).
The research helps us to improve the study because it allows us to make contact with reality in order to know it better. It is a stimulus for creative intellectual activity. Helps develop a growing curiosity about problem solving. It contributes to the progress of reading criticism. The factors of selection are divided into objectives and subjective. The first are external elements or materials that enable and determine, to a greater or lesser extent, the conduct of an investigation (the time, the society, the environment family, the culture, the politics, resource materials, etc.). The second refers to the qualities of the researcher that affect the development of research in addition to a certain domain of matter under investigation. In this article the author has investigated why users of stop-smoking medication often fail to comply with the recommended treatment schedule in order to understand how adherence can be improved, particularly in the case of OTC NRT.
