Slavery in America

There were many reasons because of which slavery happened in America. The American colonies depended on slave labor. However, by the mid-eighteenth century lot of people began to ask the morality of slavery. Throughout the eighteenth century, Britain, France and Spain became rich through taxes and profits made in the colonies. Much of this wealth was due to slave labor. Denmark, Sweden, Prussia, Holland and Genoa (Piedmont) also traded in slaves.
