Sexuality

Introduction

Craig A. Hill was an assistant scientist at Kinsey University for Gender, Sex and reproduction. He completed his doctorate from Texas University and was and was awarded a fellowship in postdoctoral. Currently he is working as a professor for various publications and reviewing journals relating to sexuality. Therefore Hill has presented and worked on numerous sexual theories and claimed that sexual behavior comprises what we do with our sexuality. The knowledge of sex differentiation and determination has increased over the last few years as it considered being a vital aspect in the lives of human. Hormones are said to play a significant role, leading the body to behave in a certain way. Sexual hormones are responsible for the physical development of both male and female characteristics, and acts as a stimulator to sexual behavior.

Discussion

Craig Hill has remained a renowned author in the field of sexuality. Therefore he wrote and published a unique textbook on relationship and sexuality known as “Human Sexuality”. The book has been fruitful in explaining psychological theories and how it leads to sexuality (Hill, 2008). The book continues to talk about physical sexual differentiation that occurs as a result of hormone secretion form the organs in early stage of growth (Hines, 2006). The level of testosterone keeps on changing with the change in seasons. This seasonal change has been associated with variations in cognitive abilities (Geary, 1995). Moreover, both male and female testosterone levels are higher in the morning than in the afternoon or evening.

In men, the bonding effect is reduced due to the higher testosterone level. Hormone levels are usually correlated with sexual behavior, but there are other factors contributing in it. The estrogenic and androgenic hormones results in the growth and development of organs needed for the sexual activity. In childhood the environment is an important component, but, when the individual reaches to the time of adolescence, with the high production of steroid hormones, end-organ sensitivity starts playing a significant role. The emotional experience of the individual also plays a significant role in this context. The previous experiences are saved in the subconscious mind, and somehow leave an impact on the sexual behavior of men. Furthermore, when maturity is achieved in an individual, the psychological factor becomes the major influence dominating the other factors.

Motivation is referred to the wish to achieve a desired mission or goal. This is a universal meaning for motivation whereas in case of sexuality, motivation refers to the goal that is the experience of satisfaction that results from sexual behavior. This is a type of a joy or pleasure experienced by individuals when they slot in sexual expression. There are different terms that relate to sexual motivation such ...
