Introduction

Sexual harassment is a major concern in today's educational environment. Sexual Harassment includes a series of attacks from nuisance to serious abuse that may come to involve sexual activity. Sexual harassment can occur in a classroom, a locker room, during a school outing, a school bus or at a sporting activity (Stein, 2005). People are often victims of degrading and offensive early in life, in the hands of bullies in a schoolyard. Students may also be victims of sexual harassment as part of their part-time work or summer sports, or babysitting, walking on the street or elsewhere. It has always existed the risk of sexual harassment in schools Worldwide.

Victims of sexual harassment in schools

Victims are usually girls, but anyone can be a victim.

Who sexually harass a student?

In the school context, it may be:

a classmate who harassed students of the opposite sex

Girls who harass other girls (e.g. comments about your sexual activities, or other insults)

boys who harass other boys (e.g. comments on physical appearance, sexual orientation or sexual activity)

a teacher (s) or other member of school staff (e.g. driver (trice) bus, coach (e), secretary or volunteer who harasses a student, regardless of gender ) (Kopels, 2009).

Examples

Following are some examples of sexual harassment in school (Berman, 2002):

Pinching, grabbing, and touching any part of the body.

Being cornered.

Make suggestions, gestures, looks, jokes or sexual comments (this may include sounds such as barking).

Say sexual rumors.

Someone take her clothes off.

Being raped (o) or an alert of rape.

Statistics

Sexual Harassment has been very common in school, according to a survey conducted in by American Association stated following states (Hill, 2011):

85% of girls are sexually harassed 

76% of boys sexually molested 

31% of girls have experienced harassment "often" 

18% of boys have experienced harassment "often"

13% of girls in school were forced to something sexual, but ...
