Sexual Misconduct by Government Officials
Cases
Bill Clinton, Paula Jones & Monica Lewinsky
According to The Washington Post, President Bill Clinton allegedly Paula Jones by exposing himself to her in some hotel room. Clinton never admitted these charges in-spite of atrocious legal and publicity clash. This case was brought into the lime light when Monica Lewinsky case was in action. Monica Lewinsky case was the most famous presidential scandal in America's History. This affair escalated far ahead of the Oval Office when Monica Lewinsky was an intern in White House, who filed a case of 9 times sexual harassment case against the president of United States.
Clarence Thomas & Anita Hill
Clarence Thomas, the conservative Supreme Court Justice, was accused of sexual legislations by Anita Hill a law professor at University of Oklahoma, who had once worked for him at Equal Employment Opportunities Commission. Clarence Thomas was innocent as he was a strong promoter of the rights of women and civil rights.
US Army & Lt. Gen. Claudia Kennedy
In 2000, Claudia Kennedy, who wore the highest ranking female officer of US army reported a sexual harassment case against an army officer. The News reported that nothing was considered in the case and the officer was promoted, and posted instead of being punished.
Bob Packwood
Republican Bob Packwood was accused of harassing 29 women through different harassment's modus operandi (forced kissing, groping and propositioning sex). 17 cases were proved correct out of 29. Bob Packwood then had to resign from his chair of Finance committee of Oregon.
Police Force
A case study was presented on 17th September 2011, which stated Cops raping prostitutes is a significant portion of rapists with a badge, but there are also cops, DAs, corrections officers, probation officers, border patrol agents and other government officials who rape and sexually assault men, women, transgender persons, and of course, children. One lawman was California Highway Patrol Officer Craig Peyer, who terrorized female drivers in the San Diego area in the mid 1980s. Although he did not rape her, he was convicted of killing Cara Knott, and it seems that he had a penchant for pulling women drivers over and spending hours talking to them about their sex lives.
Introduction
The phenomenon of sexual harassment at work is as old as the presence of women on the labour market, and the influx of women in this sector has only given it momentum. For some years now, women's groups have tackled this problem which is a form of discrimination at the place of women. Note that this type of discrimination can happen to men or to the same sex. However, women remain the main target affected by this phenomenon discriminatory.
