Self directed learning is a concept of adult education which refers to the learning process in which individuals are themselves responsible for their learning. Unlike other learning methodologies, in which instructors are assumed to take the responsibilities for selecting, managing and assessing the learning activities, the learners take them in self directed learning. The role of teachers in this learning process is simply to provide mentoring, scaffolding and advising; the role of the peers is to provide collaboration to each other.
