This assignment focuses on providing an overview of different types of schools in relation to the educational stage, the various options that are available to the young people after the age of 16, the strategic purpose of various regulating bodies and the teaching faculties and the role of various external professionals that work with the school. Types of Schools in Relation to Educational Stage
Nursery Schools
The nursery schools are separate schools that are for children aging between three and four. These schools can either be state owned or private (www.bbc.co.uk). In nursery schools, educational play is provided for the children rather than just child care facilities.
Nursery Classes
These classes are with the primary schools. They may have a different building and play area. But headmistress or headmaster and the support staff are same.
Primary Schools
Primary schools are for children aging between four and eleven. In primary schools, the children start with the Early Years Foundation Stage till they reach the age of five. It is then followed by key stage 1, which is for their year 1 and 2 of primary school. This key stage is for children between five and seven. The last key stage is for year 3, 4, 5 and 6 of primary school and is for children between seven and eleven.
Secondary Schools
Secondary schools are for the children that age between eleven and sixteen. In secondary schools, key stage 3 and 4 are taught. The key stage 3 is for children between eleven and fourteen and is taught in seventh, eighth and ninth year of their education. The last key stage is 4 in which the children aging between fourteen and sixteen fall. This stage is taught in year 10 and 11 of their education. Post 16 Options for Young People

Diplomas
Diplomas are a qualification that provides practical learning to the people while encouraging them to continue studying. These diplomas provide practical training to the students along with providing them with work experience. Diplomas are ideal for students who have a clear idea of what they want to do. The people who do these diplomas are between 14 - 19. Some start the diplomas after finishing their secondary schools at the age of 16.
