The role of women since the start has been a very essential one. It is not without their support that men managed to survive. The women of these times were mainly included to gather the hunt of the men. They had the role of gathering, storing as well as preserving the food stuff. It is without a doubt that women were the ones to discover the art of pottery as well as weaving. Since the start the major role of the women have been to stay back at home and look after the children, whereas men were responsible to going out and providing food for the family. By the age of 18, they were known to have two or three kids by then. Women also discovered the making of woven sling or swag bags. These had two major uses.

They could be used to collect the gatherings and also hold children in it. Thus, our modern day hanging bags are the modification of these swag bags of this time. In addition to that, the women were also responsible for the job of weaving. They weaved the clothing and combined it with garments. The oldest piece of cloth is considered to be from the 9000 B.C.E. Apart from these innovations and inventions, women also made pottery through clay. These were used to transport liquid items, which mainly included water. All the religious rituals as well as other family chores like preparing meals and taking care of the children were the sole responsibility of the women. In addition to this, they were also supposed to provide sexual satisfaction to their mates or their husbands. Since these were older times, they are known to be conservative times as well. Women were not allowed the same privileges as men.

They would sit back at home and wait for their men to come back. It is important to note that the story telling traditions were also invented by women of this time. A conflict of theories arises when some historians and theorists argue that there was no such concept of marriage and the women did not belong to one single man at the time (Ehrenberg, M. 1989). Thus, no man would be able to demand sexual activity.

Women in Church History

Women in the church history were not allowed to possess any religious role. They were forced to stay to their original roles of catering to their families. They served the common purposes of being wives, daughters as well as mothers.
