Introduction

Relationships are important for the success of businesses; thus relationships are developed within a business. A few factors matter a lot while developing relationships, one of them are communication. The importance of communication in the development of relationships can be guessed by the fact that without communications, a relationship is not to last for long. Thus, in order to understand the importance of communications on the development of relationship, we are conducting this study on the role of communication in relationship development.

Importance of Communication

Communication is necessary to develop healthy relationships within a business the frequency of communications at most of the times in a business describes as to how effective a relationship between the businesses is.

Whether it is to build new relationships or to keep the old one's intact, the importance of communication is evident. An example of this can be the frequent communication between the businesses, which highlight the clear importance of communications in businesses.

Not only is it relevant to maintain communications within the business industry with the customers, but it is also essential to maintain an effective and efficient system of communications within the organization so that the data and information can flow freely within the organization without any discrepancies (Loe & Morgan, 1995).

Most of the business problems that arrive whether in internal or external environment are to be as of the lack of communication or due to the prevalence of noise in the business communication model. It is thus that businesses have been and still are trying hard to communicate data and information with their stakeholders without any disturbances or with minimized noise.

There are different types of communications that can be taken under consideration while talking about communications in businesses; these include business to business communications, business to consumer relationships, employer to employee communications, supervisor to employee communications etc.

One of the business tools used so commonly now days in order to develop new relationships and to manage the old one is the online communication tool, which includes tools like emails, Skype etc. through which businesses all over the world are interconnected not only with their counter parts in other regions of the world, but are on a 24/7 basis with their customers and suppliers.

Wal-Mart is an important example of this the global giant maintains its competitive edge in the industry on the basis of ultra advanced communication model that it has placed in order to achieve this competitive advantage of cheap costs and continuous supply without any interruption.

Businesses mostly follow a five step approach to communication in order to develop effective relationships; these steps include determination of goals, identification of audience, summarizing the message that is to be conveyed, choosing the communication medium and building a measurement mechanism.
