Ethics is a very important part of our life. We should practice ethics in our everyday lives and make sure that we do not commit any immoral act. As the world is changing and becoming more dynamic, ethical issues are rising. This is the case with technology. As the world, today is becoming more technology oriented, and people are relying more and more on technology. The issues surrounding it are increasing. This is the reason, why ethics plays a crucial role in technology. It is ensured that people do not get involved in ethical activities even when they are dealing in technology (World Health Organization, 2006).

To ensure ethics in technology, intellectual property rights are widely used. Intellectual property rights are the rights that protect creations of the mind. People who have discovered or anything useful regardless of the field can make sure that their invention or discovery is not used by others. These rights protect the new invention or discovery and do not allow other people to illegally use the inventions by their own name. This is the reason these rights have a lot of importance in today's world. Technology is the most relevant field regarding intellectual property rights. Technology can be used for positive as well as negative actions. It should be protected so that people do not make wrong use of technology.

Technology has paved way for many inventions and has taken the world to an entirely new level. It has made the world a global village and has given the world many things, which are useful, but at the same time it has negative impacts on the world. This has made the role of technology very doubtful in the field of medicine. The field of medicine deals with the lives of people; hence, it cannot take the risk of playing with the lives of people.

The unauthorized use of information in hospitals is causing a lot of damage to the management as well as the patients. The hospital staff should make sure that the information is protected, and the information is used by authorized persons only. This will help the hospital in making up for the losses. The losses were as severe as the death of patients because the information accessed by people caused them to give wrong dosage to the patients which caused the death of patients. Furthermore, the unauthorized use of information causes the hospitals to lose confidential information. The systems can be damaged by many people so that the information cannot be accessed by the hospital officials; therefore, the use and access to such information should also be restricted (Srinivas, 2008).
