Introduction

Manage traffic in the retail stores is considered as the key thing to make a profitable store (Arnold,et.al, 1996). Congestion in the store does create a problem for users to move freely, and most of the time it left un-satisfaction in the mind of the customer.

In this paper, I will I will make the detailed observations of two stores- a national store (Wal-Mart store) and a local store (Albertsons) and discuss the merits of their strategies and determines that how the convey the market retailer market strategy and position. In later part of this paper, I will discuss the how the retail stores can improve their strategies in order to make the customer more convenience while they visit.

Discussion

As I have stated above, I have visited two stores Hampstead Wal-Mart and Albertson, and now I am reports their strategies that they used.

Store Layout

Wal-Mart of Hampstead uses the updated and futuristic design in the majority of their stores in recent times (Goetz & Swaminathan, 2006). They have taken the some major steps to refreshing their stores, merchandising and improve the customer experience. The layout of the stores in much easy to navigate, that will save the time of customers as they shop necessities for every day at unbeatable prices.

A local store that I visited as a second retail store, it shows the rectangular layout. Entrance of the store is the place on the right side whiles all the grocery items available on the basement. Clothing, shoes and pharmacy department is placed on the first floor.

Impact Zone

When customer entered in the Wal-Mart store there is General Merchandizing (clothing, Electronics, Toys, Supporting goods etc), Pharmacy and Support Program in the right side while Grocery (Fresh Market, Bakery, Dairy etc) on the left side.

As per my concern Easy Mart is quite congested for users to move trolley freely because they tried to put thousand of merchandizing items in the little store space. This is assumed that due to center store of the city number of users always be there but feel minor inconvenience first at parking and secondly movement at floor.

Merchandizing

This is expected before I visited in the Wal-Mart Store that regular grocery such as food items and pharmacy are available on the regular prices such as rice, sugar, coffee, cooking oil, bakery, dairy items etc (but their prices are less than the other grocery stores). On the other side casual ...
