Task 1: Research Questions & Objectives

The usage of alcohol has increased at an alarming rate in the context of UK. It has grown in phenomenon with the easier availability of alcohol for school and college going children.

RQ1: What are the impacts of alcoholisms and the alcoholic behaviours on the academic performance on the university going children within UK?

The most significant aim in the context of this research is to analyze the factors involved in the rising usage level of alcohol in the context of university going children within UK. In addition, we would also look at the behavioural problems the children go through because of their excessive drinking patterns. The main objectives of this thesis are as follows:

1.To find out the impact of alcoholism on the academic performance of university students within UK.

2.To investigate the reasons students turn to alcoholism within the environment of UK.

Task 2: Literature Review

Alcoholism has become a major societal issue in the context of a majority of societies because of the vulnerability of alcohol to children. With the excessive drinking patterns prevalent in children, they are prone to suffer from different academic issues and challenges. This habit is a huge disturbance for the children as they cannot concentrate on their studies and as a result their results are very poor (Moreira, Smith, & Foxcroft, 2009). Not only academics, but children also complain of being psychologically affected by such habits as their mind and thinking pattern does not act in an orthodox manner.

There is a huge role of peer pressure that greatly influences school and college going children to adopt excessive alcohol drinking as they term it as a status symbol and goes with the trendy image of their lifestyle (Kypri, Bell, Hay, & Baxter, 2008, pp. 1131-1138). With flawed thinking patterns and lack of concentration in the different courses, the academic achievements get sacrificed and thus psychological aspect needs to be considered in the crux part of this thesis (Dargan, Albert, & Wood, 2010, pp. 875-879).

The comparison of drinking patterns among the children and adults reveals that children are more likely to adopt increasing usage of alcohol than the adults. Thus, they are more likely to be affected by major health issues as well as a lack of productivity in the academics (Singleton, & Wolfson, 2009, p. 355). Media also has been known to play a prominent role in the exploitation of alcoholic advertisements to the children since children get attracted easily to these types of interactive advertisements.

The reason behind this is that youth can be easily attracted or distracted as the emotion in their age are not easily to be exploited and most of the young offenders are those who are victim of emotional usage of alcohol ...
