1a) Research and the Main Types of Social Enquiry

Research

Research is referee to have comprised of the systematic work that is undertaken for creative purposes for an increase in the knowledge of the individuals including the information and knowledge of individual, society and culture. Research is also used for increasing the knowledge for devising new applications. Another important definition of research also includes that research is a useful procedure of confirming or establishing facts, reaffirming the results of previous works, supporting theorems, solving existing or new problems and developing new theories.

Types of Social Enquiry

It is very important to understand that research is a broad term and social enquiry that takes place in the process of research involves different types of enquiries which are summed up as follows.

Confirmation Enquiry

This type of enquiry involves the verification of various concepts by following a specific procedure.

Structured Enquiry

Structured Enquiry refers to an enquiry in which a specific procedure is followed for finding an answer to a question that gives rise to the need of conducting a research.

Guided Enquiry

Guided enquiry is an enquiry in which the students or researchers are provided with questions and then the students have to design an experiment to find an answer or answers to the given questions.

Open Enquiry

In an open enquiry, students are free to ask the questions and then follow the guided procedures to find the answers to the questions.

1b) Research Objectives Contributing to the Modification and Improvement upon Theory and Practice

The core objectives of the research that contribute towards improving theory and practice depend are based on creative researches that give rise to practice oriented research and education. Another main focus of research through which it improves theory and practice include the creation of a global ground of excellence for intellectual creativity (Bryman, 2012, pp. 60).
