Reported Crimes in Metropolitan Areas

Introduction

The core purpose of the content in this literature is to identify and compare the occurrence of a common offense in two Metropolitan areas of United States of America. Therefore we have used two metropolitan states i.e., New York and California. The common crime that will be studied is the Forcible rape. The report will discuss the number of incidents that had been reported in the selected metropolitan states. The rate of crime of the selected areas will be analyzed and their change will be observed with respect to time. The key factors that can be held responsible for the distinction in the crime rate of both metropolitan states will be identified by the report.

Reported incidents

According to the reported and statistics of FBI, the number of reported incidents in California is much greater that New York. This difference can be due to the difference in the estimated population of both areas. A graphical representation can clearly identify the difference in the estimate population of both areas.

The number of reported crimes in New York regarding the crime of Forcible rape is 455. On the other hand in California the number of reported crime appears to be 1642. A huge difference lies in the crime reporting in both areas. This shows that there number of crime is in New York is greater than California. However, this difference is not significant because there is a huge gap between the estimated populations of both areas (FBI, 2013).
