Introduction

This paper intends to provide a reflection to the main research report I have written which was about leadership within the construction industry. As discussed in my actual research paper; the significance of leadership is immense in every form of business in today's modern world (Panthi, Farooqui & Ahmed, 2009 Pp. 2-4). In order to become successful in any industry; companies need to have competent leadership qualities. The purpose of this paper is to provide a brief reflection to what I have learnt while conducting my actual research for the topic of significance of leadership in the construction industry. The paper will be covering all the aspects from the initial stages of finalizing the research topic to compiling the final report. The paper will be structured in the form of a series of diary entries or a number of dated sections written around themes or issues. For instance, the basic difficulties I had to go through in doing my primary research will be explained. The issues that will be covered in this paper are the finalization of the research topic, searching for information, difficulties faced during data collection, tackling the feedback comments from my supervisor on my work and coping with the sections I found difficult and how you feel the research is progressing. The purpose of this paper it o provide a personal account and reflection of the process in order to make the readers aware about different aspects associated with writing a research project.

Finalization of the Research Topic

The finalization of my research topic was an interesting task. Within the module of Comprehensive Study Project; I chose the construction industry for the purpose of discussion because I am extremely interested about this industry. I have found this industry extremely fascinating since beginning and I intend to continue my career within this industry; therefore, I chose to conduct research within this industry. Similarly, in today's world the significance of effective leadership remains immense. Without having proper guidance in the form of competent leadership; no business can survive successfully (CIOB, 2008 Pp. 1-2). Therefore; I combined the significance of effective leadership with the industry of my interest. At the end of this process I came up with a topic of “Leadership in Construction Industry.”

Searching for Information

Searching for information is today's internet world is not a difficult job. I had plenty of relevant informational articles and other resources to include within my literature review. The concept of leadership is one of the most important and most debated concepts of the modern times. Searching for relevant information for this research project enhanced my searching and filtering capabilities. This remains extremely important in order to make sure that the relevant information is used for the literature reviews as the literature review tends to create a strong base for moving on with the research effectively (Brooks, 2009 Pp. 35-39).
