Reflection and Synthesis of the Paper

The paper aimed at discussing the problems faced by the children belonging to same sex parents. Although claiming to be immensely modernized and liberal, gays and lesbians, in our society still face discrimination and prejudice in social aspects. The biggest hindrance and example of discrimination can be seen in the administration rules, law and regulations in which the same sex parents are still differentiated. Studies show that the children of both types of couples face no differences regarding emotional or behavioral difficulty. The paper discusses child custody as a major issue and highlights the legal constraints the same sex parents face in adopting a child or claiming for their custody (Anonymous, 2011).

Reflection of Personal Encounters and Experiences

The personal experiences and encounters are specifically and accurately related and interconnected with the literature review of the studies previously conducted in this regard. The information obtained from the interviews and experience of attending the meeting “Women with Pride Empowerment” offered through The Pride Center in Wilton Manors, Fl, greatly reflects and relates to the concepts and constructs highlighted in the text. In the interviews, homogeneous couples asserted that the rise of liberalism in the society has given them a significant part of acceptance, at least on the part of their family and immediate social circle.

Moreover, legal issues highlighted in the literature review of the paper were similar to the responses and concerns mentioned by the homogenous couples regarding the constraints of laws of child custody and adoption. Homogenous couples face immense discrimination concerning legal issues as there are no formally devised rules for this diverse population.
