Rationale and Curriculum Project

Introduction

The main purpose of developing a curriculum project is to make awareness among education institutions about the importance of introducing technology based learning material in the classroom. This is specifically for Montessori teachers and children. The importance of this project brings many changes in the learning environment and also ensures that students are comfortable and easily learn the curriculum and basic concepts of the study material. As a practitioner, I have realized that many educational institutions are not aware of the importance of implementing the technology based teaching material. These institutions are only focused on material objects and traditional learning material which have been used widely in the past. Some of the institutions are planning to create a technology based learning environment where children are exposed to different technologies and thus improve the communication system of the overall education system.

Within the curriculum different activities whose proper planning, development, implementation and monitoring will allow the development of the teaching is done properly. For this, it is essential that the program coordinating committee or subcommittees of course, or module are responsible for ensuring the proper development of education i.e. the proper fulfillment of planned activities in the curriculum. Therefore, those responsible for the subjects must identify the different activities including classroom, mentoring, mobility, and evaluation necessary for the proper development of the curriculum (Gimbert & Cristol, 2004).

Context for Curriculum

According to Stephen Kemmis (et. al., 1983), the main purpose of education is not only to make a career life but also developing skills and acquire knowledge to prepare for future life. This requires the reconstruction of society as a whole rather than taking individualist approach. This reconstruction may bring a lot of changes in the learning capability and enhance their creative skills on the basis of social philosophy. The liberal /progressive orientation believes in need for improvement in society and the resources must be utilized equally among all the children of society who are new generation and have potential to reconstruct the society with their learning outcomes and experience.

This approach is applicable in developing technology-based curriculum for Montessori teachers and children as they are part of society and considered as a future of development of a society in long run. Therefore, a curriculum is to be developed in order to ensure that children are having a perfect learning environment with advanced technology based material and also ensure that teachers are given proper training in order to enhance their teaching skills and developing creative environment for both teachers and children.

The curriculum is structured outline of the fundamental areas of mandatory and optional areas with their respective subjects that are part of the curriculum of the schools (Tripp, 1994). The curriculum defines a set (list) of items a particular type of institution and consider the level of education classes. But this general direction or, more precisely, the overall construct of the content. It must be filled with concrete material. For this is the curriculum for ...
