The famous story is about a forbidden love on a South African farm by a famous writer Nadine Gordimer. The story is highly fascinated and eye catching because of its theme. The main character in this story it was a white man Paulus, who felt in love with black men. The systematic approach that has enhanced the literature of this work is its formalist approach.

Paulus and Thebedi knew each other since they were children. Paulus is child of the proprietor of the ranch where Thebedi arrives to work later in the story. Paulus is a white young man, and Thebedi is a very dark girl. The time arrives, and the white young children are being dispatched to school, and even though the very dark young children furthermore proceeds to school, no one of them ever get to be like well educated as the white children. As the young children evolve bodily, the very dark young children discover to address the white young children as “master”. Paulus declines in love with Thebedi, and even though she is very dark, he does not glimpse her that way.
