Race, Ethnicity and Community

Introduction

The world in which we live is full of different people. These different people belong to different religion and hence they possess different social and cultural values. On the basis of these differences they differ from one another. But, when these different people live together in a community then they adopt each other's ways and practices so that they can coordinate with others, resemble like them and do not look alien. This issue of race and ethnicity affects the community living in more than one ways. It affects the human interaction in the society, conduct and behavior of people to each other. The aim and objective of this paper is also to talk about the issues of race and ethnicity in my community.

Discussion

This part of the paper undertakes the discussion about the impact of the race and ethnicity on the people residing in a community. This part discusses how the factors of race and ethnicity affect behavior of people with each other in a community.

Part One

The issue of the race, diversity and ethnicity is prevalent to a greater extent in United States. As a result of this ethnicity and diversity a number of issues are raised everyday in our society. These issues and dilemmas of ethnicity and racial issues are now part of our society. Awareness about the racial issues and ethnicity even increased after the event of 9/11. This also has increased the knowledge, information and awareness about the ethnicity issues and racial problems. My knowledge and information that I have tells me that in a country that offers that much opportunities, that is big enough to be recognized as the super power of the world then it is obvious that people would take the route to this country so, that they also have opportunities and for improving their lives. If I see this issue of racial and ethnicity dilemmas then all these problems appear to be so normal. When people from different parts of the world who belongs to different races and religion live together then it is obvious that this would raise the issues and conflicts. My information about race and ethnicity tells me that minorities are in our country for better opportunities. They are important part of our economy. Reading material about the cultural diversity and ethnic issues tells me some important aspect about the cultural history of US. To save the cultural heritage of America, various people took initiatives to save the culture of America. One such attempt is of Hull House. The Hull House is a center of social work which was founded in 1889 in Chicago by Jane Addams in the community sector in Near West Side in Chicago (Illinois, USA). Among the achievements of the most emblematic Settlement movement, it served as residence for social reformers and offered a wide variety of cultural, social and educational as well as meeting places for the disadvantaged population in the neighborhood that had many immigrants coming to Europe (Jane, ...
