This paper intends to select and discuss the Magnet Recognition Program as the initiative for quality improvement in the healthcare settings. The quality improvement initiative aims at introducing the new standards and improved criteria for conducting the routine operations. The ANCC (American Nurses' Credentialing Center) has designed the sophisticated and user friendly benchmarking assessment program that is “Magnet Recognition Program”, for nursing faculty to improve the quality and other concerns related with the nurses. This program is based on CCNE standards of accreditation. This program ensures the meaningful changes in the whole operations and functioning of the health care settings backed with the rewards and recognitions.

For this regard, the health care providers can execute the Magnet Recognition Program in the hospitals that intends at recognizing the hospitals that provide the utmost outclass nursing care while upholding the professional and traditional way of nursing practice. This program aspires to disseminate the effective practices and strategies throughout the health care setting to ensure the successful delivery of quality care to the patients. This recognition program helps in attracting and retaining the quality nursing faculty. The program also gives the honorary reward which is called the magnet status reward which dignifies the gold standard for the excellent nursing which symbolizes the effective and quality care of the patient (Catherine and Mary, 2007).

This magnet status or recognition program is the higher level accreditation reward for the nursing excellence with the copious benefits which extend to the out class patient care and organizational success.
