Outline of Problem

The aim of this report is to show the practical quality problem and issue of software product, and in this report we have considered a particular project of software in order to highlight the quality issue. The object of this report is to share with readers recommendations and conclusions based on software project management and examination in the area of software quality assurance by demonstrating simple issue related to delivery, implementation and design of a typical project of software. The software project that is shown in the report serves as a model of software case study, in an effort to provide an example for showing the practical quality issue and problem that arise in the large number of software products. Both practical and quality issues that arise in the implementation affect the quality of final product.

Method of Data Collection

This report has used case study method as well as quantitative method in order to demonstrate the quality issue that arises in the development phase of software. In the particular case study, the unit of development has not been certified by ISO9001, and it has not also assessed depending upon the CMM, thus, this case can be considered as unit of lower maturity level. This report presents both the quality issue and the initial quality plan that arose in this particular case study at the time of implementation.

Overview of Quality Standard Plan of Product

In many software products, the quality of the product is designed in the initial phases of product development. There are several methods available in order to design quality of software; some of these designs are more popular as compared to others. The utilization of these methods often results in a repeatable, documented and defined way to produce the product of software. In the initial phases of software product development, the aspects that affect the quality of product are detected and criteria relevant to these aspects are tracked down. The consideration of these aspects and the criteria is mainly based on a standard. Even if we consider the argument that there are many standards for software product. In many cases, the selection of the proper standards is of great importance in the initial design of software product quality. At present, many units of software development have shifted from CSQ and FCM to ISO9126, for the selection of aspects that affect the quality of product (Xenos , 1995, pp. 266).

Regardless of the model and method selected, the developing unit moves forward in different directions during the initial quality design. This determines the quality plan of a software product. After that, it traces down certain development actions that mainly affect the final quality of product. At last, it sets certain goals of quality and defines the technique that is used for testing the accomplishment of quality goals.
