There is an urgent need for employers to successfully hone the skills of potential candidates in the context of their academic environment. Without combining the aspect of work based learning with academics would greatly affect the candidate in performing his job admirably. With a focus on incorporating the work based learning at an early stage, individuals would take less time in adjusting to the professional environment (Gibbs, 2013).

It has been observed that employers have been hesitant to hire graduates just because of the fact that they have to devote a high amount of time and cost for the training and education of their employees. The effective skills in the context of specific jobs cannot be conducted overnight. The graduates must be taught the relevant skills and expertise as well as the learning that the job would bring. We would look to address the work based learning in the context of a Public Relations manager. There are certain core areas that result in higher learning for a Public Relations manager than other areas (Gibbs, 2013).
