When considering about crime and criminal patterns that are prevalent in a particular district or country, generally people living together have made perceptions regarding the safeguarding and safety of individual life and health respectively. The paper helps us understand and identify exactly how far and wide have individuals made the perceptions in their mind and have made significant changes accordingly.
Fear of crime is associated with various individual and environmental factors. Among individual factors, the main factors positively associated with fear of crime are being female, age, perceived risk of being victim of a crime, use caution and perceived incivility; the major factors negatively associated with fear of crime are income and education (Lupton, 1999, 507-523). Among environmental factors, the main factors positively associated with fear of crime are some characteristics of neighborhood, such as community size, rapid growth of population in a community, ethnic heterogeneity, poverty, and generally , residential mobility. Please note that rates of crime and incivility targets are not associated with fear of crime or are only very few. Further explanation by associated factors, there are various hypotheses and theories to explain the fear of crime. The three main theories are that of vulnerability, fear that depend more on the perceived seriousness of the crime that the objective risk of being victim of a crime, the victimization, the crime that would cause fear crime, and that of social control that fear of crime is caused by the breakdown of formal and informal control exercised by the community on its immediate environment (Maguire, 2007). As regards more particularly the fear of crime among women, the feminist perspective is that fear of crime is largely caused by male domination, by the unequal relations between the sexes. On all studies on the etiology of fear of crime, several authors have highlighted the weaknesses and consider the most promising avenue is to seek an explanation that social psychological fear of crime, like the theory of social control.
This paper shall help us identify and align all the concerns and problems associated with the workload that has been undertaken and done for the purpose of creating chaos and noise regarding public security and safeguard. The main aims and objectives undertaken for this study include identifying the core problems that have worked in the fear of the crime and all its associates, outlining those problems and situations that people have to go through on a daily basis and then finally making amends regarding how and what tools should be implemented in order to remove the negative impact that has spread like wildfire.
