Introduction

Public Policy is an area which tends to cater to different players, in the context of this paper we will be focusing on art to be adopted as a major subject in government schools. Art is an area which tends to give identification to a nation o tends to protect its identity and shapes up the perspectives of the others regarding the issues surrounding that nation. However, it would not be wrong to state that if soldiers are necessary to defend the physical frontiers of the country, artists are necessary to defend the cultural frontiers of the country. Unfortunately in the recent past not enough attention has been given to the subject of arts which it deserves. Art is not taught as a major subject in the government schools thus art has seen a decline in our society.

Both state and federal governments does not play their part in developing or securing the subject which tends to be the identification of our country. Most of the politicians who tend to run for the offices of public representatives do not realize and thus do not emphasize on the subject of arts. The nation in general has failed to protect their most valuable assets which give the meaning and identification to them. Therefore, in my opinion there is an urgent need of establishing a body that looks after the cultural assets of the country and should identify new means to introduce the cultural defenders for the country.

Discussion

Congress

The role of the congress in the regard of framing up a policy which tends to safeguard the cultural assets and allow the injection of the new cultural defenders cannot be ignored. It is the congress which tends o represent the entire nation and no other body tends to be more supreme to it. It is the congress which tends to craft new laws and repeal the old ones which fails to serve the country. Therefore, in this regard the role of the congress becomes primary since only congress can take the decision on behalf of the whole nation. Although the policy, makers who claims to serve the public do not realize the destruction and devastation this act of ignoring the art and cultural assets can have for the existence of the nation. Policy makers are those who tend to serve as change makers and if they do not play their role than they will soon be eradicated from the society.

However, on the other hand it is important to realize that if the policy makers tend to frame the laws which will allow inducting art as a major subject in the government schools. It will not only change the society for the betterment and will allow the policy makers to be more effective in playing their roles. It is the congress who will craft the limitations and the procedure to induct such an act. It is the same congress which will act as lobbyists to other governmental institutions to adopt art as ...
